  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?
    I joined Dec 15, 2005. 9 years ago now.

  2. What does your username mean?
    FighterAmy. Fighter - Amy.
Although it commonly gets mistaken for FighterArmy. (Less so these days with the revalation that there are women on the internet)

It comes from my time on Kirby Rainbow Resort's art boards, a long, long time ago before I joined DA.
I jumped between a few names but stayed on FighterAmy when I came up with it. The idea being that if Kirby got my abilities it would be (my favorite ability at the time) Fighter + myself (Amy).
    I have never changed it (other then the usual FighterAmy/Fighter_Amy/Fighter-Amy, ect) for two reasons;
    1. I have never played an online game where that name (or its derivatives) have been taken.
    2. My brother has "Fighter" in his username as well, I thought to keep it as a funny 'family' thing; As if "Fighter" was a family name.

  3. Describe yourself in three words.
    Self-assured.
    Artist.
    Cats.

  4. Are you left or right handed?
Right handed in pretty much everything I do.
Although I do hold a knife in the left hand...

  5. What was your first deviation?
Hold on a second lets see if its still here... I try to make a habit not to delete my old stuff simply because it shows how I've grown.
Oh hay, the original one isn't here. I wonder what happened to it...
Well I have this early piece, its from my time on the Art Boards.
    Punching Bag Amy by FighterAmy

Good lord there is a lot to explain... think of the punching bag in the middle as a base you draw over... All done with a mouse.
I was here for a good few years or two before I even got a tablet.

  6. What is your favorite type of art to create?
Digital Art, its just more forgiving, although I do enjoy oil painting. The smell of Turpentine always makes me think of the art rooms in school.

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
This is assuming I'd gain full understanding and I knew what I was doing but I would like to be a master landscape artist.
Backgrounds are the bane of me at the best of times but I have neither the patience or skill to create a piece on purely the landscape alone.
Its likely why I consider a landscape painting to be visually better then most character/portrait art.

  8. What was your first favourite?
Give me a moment... I think its something Kirby/MetaKnight related...
    Hah, it isn't Kirby related.

Ah Chao are still cute to me... and this piece is still pretty cool.
So this was back when I used to play Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Gamecube) A LOT.
I don't even like Sonic games. I hated Sonic as a character, he was a jerk who never got reprimanded for being one.
I hate people like that. So naturally I rooted for Dr Ivo Robotnik (Eggman) in those games even if the whole goal of the game was to stop his evil plans.
The Chao in the Adeventure games however where litteraly the best part of the game.
I became a fucking guru of breeding those little guys. Without a guide I had created all three of the Chaos Chao (Angel, Devil and Chaos), beat all the racing and Karate mini games and bred up quite a few exotic chao.

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
These days I tend to favorite pieces that are of some kind of inspiration to me...and sometimes a comical just sticks in my head and I gotta show my appreciation for it.

Anatomy references and tutorials are a given

but sometimes I favorite a piece for its use of colour or lighting,

or the style of the characters.

Things in my favorites tend to be things I strive towards.

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
Tough one. I tend to know artists by their work and not their name (I'm a bad person, I know.)
At the moment, it definantly has to be Tracy Butler, creator of Lackadaisy.

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?
I'd love to meet Tracy, just give her a hug and a compliment, (and get a few things signed).
Little things just to make her day. Just want to let her know that her work means a lot to me.

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
Tough question. I tend not to interact with other artists.
I always feel like an outsider trying to be 'in with the group' when I do.
The most impact from people I've never interacted with in DA are:
Crazy Man In Solitude by vert-is-ninja
Tessa Stone, creator of Hannah's Not a Boy's Name - When the comic stopped, I took it really, really hard... Hell, for a while I was even angry at her! I never knew what happened and to me who had became so invested in the series, it was painful not knowing what happened. I thought she had died or was seriously ill. I looked at the series as something to strive towards and tried very hard to mimic her style. Its such a shame we'll never see it finished.

Edd Gould, creator of Eddsworld series - I never knew Edd. I lurked watching his series from his first set of animations up to the last one he worked on. Eventually I began watching his livestreams, he was a super nice guy. He announced a competition for his animation Zanta Claws III, I put a ton of effort into my entry to show my appreciation for the series and he even commented on it! Fuck cancer.

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art?
    Traditional - Pen and Pencil.
Digital - Tablet Pen and either Photoshop or SAI.

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
    Place, huh...
Suppose I should say somewhere in the wilderness or up a mountain, but honestly its my room.
I'm comfortable, have all the tools of the trade at my disposal and my walls are covered in motivational artwork and inspiration.

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
    Zanta Claws by FighterAmy
Winning the Eddsworld art competition for Zanta Claws 3.
I still have Edd's signature on my wall and I still wear the hoodie!
I'm a bit sad he's gone. He was a good guy.
